The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA) is the ONLY national organization solely devoted to encouraging and funding research to discover the cause of and a cure for ALS. A nonprofit organization with a network of chapters and support "groups" throughout the United States, ALSA also provides patient support, public awareness, legislative advocacy and education for health care professionals and the general public.
ALS ASSOCIATION-WISCONSIN CHAPTER
The ALS Association-Wisconsin Chapter evolved from a local support group and became an official ALSA chapter in 1987. The Wisconsin Chapter is managed by an energetic Board of Directors and employs a staff including an Executive Director, Patient Services Coordinator, Office Manager and Support Group Facilitators. In addition, dedicated volunteers provide invaluable support.
The Chapter has four primary goals:
1. Provide education, guidance, services and support to ALS patients, their families and their caregivers.
2. Promote public awareness of ALS.
3. Raise funds for ALS research.
4. Support the ALSA Certified Center, an ALS-certified multi-disciplinary clinic established at Froedtert Hospital/Medical College of Wisconsin, to provide the highest level of care to the patients served by the Chapter.
