| The following are questions we are often asked regarding the Evening of Hope. If we have not answered your questions below, please feel free to call us at 262.784.5257 or e-mail us at info@alsawi.org Thank you very much.
Q: Is it a formal event?
A: You will see people in different attire. We refer the event as a gala, which usually means more formal attire. You will see men in tuxedos or formal suits and women in gowns, cocktail attire or dressier pantsuits. Our suggestion is to come as formal as you would like.
Q: Do I have to wear a tuxedo?
A: No. You will see a lot of men in dark suits. Wear a tuxedo only if you would like.
Q: Can I get a discounted rate at the Hyatt?
A: Absolutely. We are partners with the Hyatt and want to offer you the best rate possible. The rate for 2010 is $109 per night.
Q: What about parking at the Hyatt?
A: As part of our event we offer free valet parking. You will see signs as you pull up that say Evening of Hope parking.
Q: Where does my money go?
A: All net proceeds of the Evening of Hope are designated for cutting edge ALS research, preferably research conducted in the State of Wisconsin.
Q: Is it tax deductible?
A: The difference between the admission price ($150 per person) and the cost of the evening meal may be deductible, subject to the advice of your tax advisor. The meal price historically has been $50 to $55 per person.
Q: Can I attend alone?
A: Absolutely. We need each and every person we can get in our fight against ALS. We know you will have a great time.
Q: Is it handicap accessible?
A: Yes.
Q: I am a vegetarian, can I order a special meal?
A: Yes. All of our guests are invited to advise of any dietary restrictions, including no meat, no shellfish, etc.
Q. Who attends the Evening of Hope?
A: Attendees at the Evening of Hope include representatives of businesses, ALS patients, physicians and a large contingent of lawyers, due to their connection with Evening of Hope founder, Attorney Jeff Kaufman. The age range is early 20s to 70s and older with the core group between 35 and 55.
