How do you convey the cruel realities of a disease that robs you of your independence one muscle at a time…all at a single glance? This ad, which was featured in last year’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Partners for Humanity initiative, managed to do just that.
"ALS is like being held hostage by your own body. One by one, you're robbed of the use of every muscle in your body. Yet your mind is left intact, to ponder your cruel fate. Because unlike a true hostage, there’s no chance of release. ALS is always fatal."
And that’s the bleak truth about ALS. It’s a horrific disease with no known cause, no effective treatment and no cure. Yet.
That’s where you come in. By helping to spread the word about ALS, and by donating to the Wisconsin Chapter on Giving Tuesday (December 1st), you can generate help for those currently struggling with ALS. Of equal importance, those donations can also provide hope that we’ll soon find a cure. So that no one will be held hostage to ALS ever again.
